Cyberattacks are becoming more common as most businesses are now connected online. Because of that, organizations now spend a lot of money defending their computer operating systems, networks, and data from cyberattacks. With an exponential rise of devices and programmes in modern enterprises and an increased flood of data, the importance of cybersecurity is growing. 

 

A solid cybersecurity strategy provides robust security against malicious attacks designed to access, alter, delete, destroy, or extort an organization's sensitive data. Cybersecurity is also essential in preventing attacks that focus on eliminating or disrupting the operation of a system or device.

 

Types of cyber security

 

There are three types of cyber security:

 

  1. Information security: This protects users' private information from hackers and cybercriminals. It prevents data theft and the situation in which hackers demand a ransom for sensitive information from users. It consists primarily of user authorization, authentication, and cryptography.
  2. Network security: This protects the integrity and safety of network components used by users and avoids denial of service attacks in which the original and legitimate users cannot access the computer network. It contains services such as firewalls, antivirus software, and VPNs.
  3. Application security: This is concerned with safeguarding the applications and programmes on a computer system against potential hacking threats and vulnerabilities that may arise due to various flaws exploited by hackers.
